I have had another story accepted for publication and I’m delighted. I put a lot of effort into it and it has paid off. It’s my second story that has been published. At one stage I was thinking that perhaps ‘Some Girls’ might be the only story that would be published. I’m glad to have been proved wrong.
The story ‘Photograph’ is due to be published in June 2024. It’s a long time away but it really does feel good that someone (The Bookends Review) is going to publish the story. I also felt that I may have used symbolism in the story that would be understood by only a few people but that does not appear to be the case. I like the colour red and what it can symbolise and feared that I was overdoing it.
Photograph is a story about regrets and not being able to let go despite the main character thinking he has let go (of someone). I enjoyed writing it but it is that little bit too short. It’s only a thousand words.
I also submitted a story called ‘The Student’ but after eleven rejections I realized that it is not going to be published. Which is disappointing. I still think it’s a good story though not necessarily understood by those who rejected the story. It’s main theme is language and how language is used.
